CLUBS & ACTIVITIES
St. Bernard’s Elementary School offers students a wide range of clubs and activities which extend beyond the classroom providing students opportunities for both educational and personal growth. By participating in these clubs and activities, students learn to appreciate diverse perspectives, develop empathy, and grow into well-rounded individuals prepared for future challenges.

ATHLETIC PROGRAM
Our Athletics Program offers students opportunities to participate in Field Hockey, Basketball, and Flag Football. These sports promote physical health, resilience, and team spirit while emphasizing the importance of perseverance and sportsmanship.

BAND
St. Bernard’s proudly partners with Paul Effman Music Service offering students in Grades 1-8 the opportunity to take music lessons during the school day. The band showcases their talents with performances at our annual Christmas concert and again as part of our May liturgey.
Instruments offered are
- Violin
- Woodwind
- Flute
- Brass
- Percussion instruments
Band fees, which cover instrument rentals and monthly lesson costs, are managed through the Paul Effman Music. Families will receive monthly payment coupons directly from the band provider.
BOOK BUDDIES
St. Bernard’s has a beloved tradition of pairing older and younger students as Book Buddies to share in the enrichment of reading. The Buddies read to our youngest Bernardians, and as those students begin their own reading journeys, their Book Buddies are there to guide them along the way.
Book Buddy Teams:
- Pre-K and Grade 5
- Kindergarten and Grade 8
- First Grade and Sixth Grade
Together, they cultivate a love of books and build lasting friendships. Our older Bernardians serve as inspiring role models, fostering meaningful connections across the school.
CRAZY 8’s MATH CLUB
Crazy 8’s is a one-of-a-kind Math Club that brings high-energy, interactive math activities to students of all skill levels. Designed for after-school programs, it offers an exciting way for students to engage with math, fostering a love for problem-solving and analytical thinking. Our club serves students in Grades 3 through 5, making math both enjoyable and accessible for everyone!
DRAMA CLUB:
SPRING MUSICAL
Each spring, students from Grades 6, 7 and 8 are invited to participate in a junior version of a popular musical. Under the guidance of STB faculty and staff, students take on roles as actors, singers, dancers, and even work behind the scenes on stage design, props, and costumes. Depending on the musical selected, students in Grades 4 and 5 may also be invited to join. This major production is a cherished event, supported by the entire school community. Recent performances have included DreamWorks Madagascar and Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
DRAMA CLUB: THEATRE AT THE MOUNT
Each fall, students in grades 6, 7, and 8 have the chance to participate in competitive one-act plays, showcasing comedies, mysteries, or dramas. Each class presents a matinee performance for the school and an evening show for family and friends. Guided by STB faculty and staff, students compete for coveted awards like Best Play and Audience Choice. This program fosters creativity, teamwork, and school spirit, offering an engaging and memorable experience for everyone involved.

national junior honor society
St. Bernard’s is a proud host of the Nano Nagle Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). The purpose of the NJHS is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, to develop character and to encourage good citizenship in the students of St. Bernard’s Elementary School.
sTUDENT cOUNCIL & Class Officers
Grade 8 students actively participate in student government by campaigning and running for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Through this process, they develop public speaking, persuasive communication, and leadership skills while advocating for meaningful change.
The Student Council’s purpose is to make our school and our community a better place. By sharing our blessings with others our students promote their motto “Deeds not Words.” The Student Council sponsors many events throughout the school year for our younger students, as well as events that raise money for many school and community causes.
