Saint Bernards Elementary School

Excellence in Education with Enduring Catholic Values

School History

St. Bernard’s Elementary School is a vibrant school serving students from Pre-K to Grade 8. Founded in 1886 by the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary as separate boys’ and girls’ schools, the school became co-educational in 1966 when it opened the doors of the new school located at 254 Summer Street.

Mission Statement

Inspired by the motto Deeds not Words,” St. Bernard’s Elementary School is a Catholic community of faith, learning and service joined in living Gospel values. In partnership with our families, we strive to develop both academic excellence
and compassion for others in our students.

Sports

Team sports are supervised by our Athletic Director Steve Maki. Parent volunteers coach the individual teams. All coaches must be CORI checked, complete the Safe Environment program, be fingerprinted, sign the Diocese of Worcester Code of Conduct, and complete a Concussion Awareness program. Athletes are representatives of our school at all times and therefore are expected to behave as young gentlemen and ladies.
